My name is Jordan. I was playing on a Friday afternoon outside in the park with about 15 friends. It was a mix of guys and gals, so to speak We were playing tackle the runner. It was a game, every man for himself, where the goal was to run with the football as long as possible while everyone else tries to tackle him. One the guy (or gal) gets tackled the ball gets thrown straight up in the air randomly. Someone else catches the ball and off we go again. I was physically pretty small. I got the ball and ran off, but not very far before I got gain-tackled by about 10 people. As the pile cleared out, I was trapped on the ground on my back. I saw Rainy and Avery leaning over me like they had just teleported in. Rainy reached her hand out and helped me up.
“We have something we want to show you.” Rainy said. “Yeah.” said Avery.
Rainy was a beautiful blond, blue eyed girl. She was Avery’s friend. Avery was also a beautiful, blond with blue eyes, but she wore glasses. Avery was my mom and dad’s friend’s daughter. My mom and dad were on a mission trip for 6 months. It was the middle of October and they were expected to be gone for 5 more months, so I was staying with Avery and Rachel. Rachel was Avery’s mother (single mother) and she worked nights. She was rarely available, so she put Avery in charge when she was not there. Rachel said earlier “I believe guys need to be watched a lot more than girls. Avery is in charge when I’m gone. Do you understand?” Avery was the teachers pet type. She was very brainy and bossy. I was labeled a genius early on at school. I often knew more and better than Avery. I didn’t really need her to watch me, but at the same time I had and edge to me and I was a rambunctious. I was often out looking for mischief, so maybe I was better off with her watching me a little. Avery liked to mother hen me. In her mind, she was the boss and she was supposed to babysit me. Her mother was also bossy with a cold demeanor. She didn’t particularly like me (or trouble, as she called me). Avery was so much warmer, but firm with me. I liked her bossiness and I sometimes even encouraged it to a point. I would try to please her. As a result, she did it more. She liked having domain over me and telling what to do sometimes. She was physically bigger than me. She was about 3 inches taller. Avery was also emotional. I liked her and hated her for this. She was happy, happy and mad, mad, mad. Luckily, she wasn’t my sister. With her mother’s “help,” I created a monster in Avery (that would be hard to fix) but conveniently I usually didn’t have to put up with her bossiness or moods all the time.
Rainy on the other hand was level headed and cool. Rainy did not pay much attention to me. I had the feeling that maybe she didn’t like me much, but I wasn’t sure. She might say “Hi” to me but that was it. She mainly liked to share gossip with Avery about what was going on at school or church. Avery often told me to find something else to do while she was with Rainy. Avery just did not want me around when she was with Rainy which was fine with me.
“Come with us, please” Avery said.
“Now,” I asked “I’m in the middle of a game.” Meanwhile the crowd had distributed the ball to someone else and the crowd ran away.
“Looks like you just got tackled. Game’s over.” Avery said.
“Well, okay” I said
“Hold my hand.” Avery said. I looked around to make sure that the crowd wasn’t watching. “Okay” I said. “Hold my hand” Rainy said. “Okay” I said. I was waking in between them like I was waking down the Yellow Brick Road in the Wizzard of Oz.
“I walked with both of them for a while with an exaggerated hand swing. “Where are you taking me? “ I finally asked. “Home” Rainy said.
“Am I in trouble?” I asked.
Silence……
“Am I in trouble?” I asked again.
“We want to talk to you Jordan.” Avery said. “It’s important.”
I stopped. “It’s important?” I asked. “I just want to go back to the park.”
Avery stopped. She walked in front of me and said: “Now, Jordan. We want to talk to you. You are being rude. Do you understand.”
“Yes” I said.
“You don’t pay much attention to others when they talk you sometimes. You never hear what they are saying. That’s rude. Haven’t I talked to you before about this?”
“Yes, So what do you want to talk to me about?” I asked.
“That’s a surprise.” Rainy said.
“I’m in trouble.” I Said.
Silence….
“Am I in trouble?” I asked again. Rainy and Avery stopped.
More silence
Finally, Rainy started to talk: “We just want to talk to you.””
Avery said: “Jordan, you’re being rude again. Remember I said it was a surprise. We want to talk to you, but we don’t want to do it here. Now please be quite so we can enjoy the walk home. Don’t let go of my hand.”
I walked in silence the rest of the way home. Was she afraid I was going to run away or something?
Avery closed and locked the door. Rainy led me to the couch. “Sit down.” Rainy said
Rainy stood over me with her hands on her hips like she was guarding me. I sat quietly for a minute. I started to feel like….uneasy.
“Nice weather we’ve had lately, huh? I said.
Rainy just looked at me with a disapproving face.
”I’m really nervous,” finally I said “Is Avery mad at me?” I asked.
Then Avery leaned around the corner. “I can’t find it.” Avery said “Rainy you come here. Jordan stay seated on the couch.” Avery said.
They disappeared around the corner. I could only make out a little of what they were saying.
“I can’t find...(the bubble?) What did you do with it?” Avery asked.
“Me? It’s yours not mine. Do you think I was playing catch with it or something?” Rainy said
“Well, I’ve got to find it. I’ll find it and you get the other thing.” Avery Said
Well they didn’t say anything about turning on the TV. I turned on the TV and started watching.
Finally, about 15 minutes later, Avery and Rainy walked in. Avery held a book to her chest.
“Jordan, can we turn the TV off. And I thought I told you not to watch TV about gambling. You know that gambling is evil.” Avery Said
I started to explain that is was a documentary about gambling. It explained the mathematics of gambling. “The bottom line message is that the house always wins.” I said
She put her hands on her hips “The house never wins. If you gamble you could lose your house.” Avery said.
It was a cute comment, maybe even genius, but I think that Avery probably misinterpreted my comment thinking that “house” refers to the person gambling rather than “house” referring to the casino in this context. She often misinterpreted things and then started lecturing me about something misunderstood by her.
“Besides you are being rude again. You interrupted me and I have something important to talk to you about. I want you to apologize.” Avery said.
“I’m sorry.” I said.
“Good” She said. “Now……….I want to ask you something….I want to ask….I can’t say it...”
Silence.
Rainy chimed in:” Jordan, I’m just going to ask you point blank. Are you an atheist?”
“An atheist?” I asked. “Why do you ask?” I said somewhat whimsically. Actually I was nervous. I was stalling for time.
“Can you just answer the question?” Rainy said
Time to play dumb I thought: “What’s an atheist?” I asked.
“An atheist is someone who believes there is no god.” Avery said.
“Actually, an atheist is someone who does not believe in god.” I blurted out.
“If you know what an atheist is, why did you ask me? Now I know that you are stalling for time so answer the question.” Avery said.
“Well not really.” I said
Avery tipped her head. She put her hands on her hips.
“Jordan you know what the bible says and “I say” about lying don’t you?” Avery asked.
“So tell the truth. Now.” Avery said.
“Well.…….…..I don’t know.” I said.
“I don’t know? I don’t take that for an answer.” Avery said
“So just tell me?” Avery said
Stalling for more time I asked Avery “Are you an atheist?”
“Of course not. I’m a Christian you know that. I’ve had it with your evasiveness. Answer the question now.” Avery said.
“You’re just going to get mad at me.” I said.
“JORDAN” Avery said. She looked really mad now.
“Fine, okay, I’m an atheist. I don’t believe in god.” I said.
“I KNEW IT.” Avery started scolding me: “HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT GOD THAT WAY. SHAME ON YOU. I’M GOING TO…...PUT YOU ….. YOU’RE GOING….... GAAAAA……I CAN’T DEAL WITH YOU.”
She stormed out of the room.
Rainy calmly looked at me. “I’m going to calm her down. Just stay here please.” She said.
I could hear them going back and forth for about 10 minutes. Occasionally I could hear Avery yell “but he doesn’t believe in God. He’s on the road to hell, don’t you understand?”
Finally after about another 10 minutes I could hear Avery calm down. “We have to stick with the plan, remember. Show him the love of Jesus and show him why he’s wrong then he has to (Something) and repent.” Rainy said
A few minutes later, Avery and Rainy sat down and the couch opposite to the couch where I was sitting.
“Jordan, I want to talk about God for a while” Avery said. “I don’t want you to interrupt or shift your attention. Do you understand?”
“Yes” I said.
“And it’s not that were mad at you. We’re worried about you. Were trying to help you because you are on the road to…..you know….the wrong path” Rainy said.
“Yeah, Jordan.” “We’re worried about you. We don’t want you to go to hell. So listen.” Avery said.
She opened her bible and started to quote different bible verses.
Psalm 14:1 “ The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”
She mentioned the 10 commandments. “I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt not have any strange gods before Me.” or “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”
Mathew 13:50 “And throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth”
Then the good news: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. “
She quoted many other bible verses and I started to tune out. I started thinking maybe I should mention Timothy 2:12 “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” I wisely bit my tongue. I was an atheist but Avery was religious. She felt that she had the right to tell me I had to be religious too.
“Can I stop you for a second?” I asked
“Yes, Jordan I appreciate you listening so far. So is any of this sinking in?” She asked.
“Yes” I lied.
“So what makes you think I’m an atheist? I asked.
“I know. I have sources.” She said.
“Like who” I asked.
“What difference does it make?” Avery asked.
“I have my sources. If stuff is going on, I will know. You can’t get away with disrespecting God.” She said.
“Oh,” I said.
“Do you understand now why being an Atheist is wrong, then? She asked
“No” I answered.
She looked mad. “Jordan, I just spent 15 minutes going over this with you. What do you mean you don’t understand?” She responded.
“I don’t know. It’s just that I don’t know if I believe in god, is that so wrong?” I asked
Avery and Rainy looked at each other.
“Yes it is wrong because you are disrespecting the most powerful being in the universe by disregarding him like that.” Rainy said.
“And Jordan this time you are not just being rude you are being disrespectful to god. As for me and my house we will worship the Lord.” Avery said
“Jordan, …….I’m going to have to spank you.” Avery said.
“Oh,” I said.
“Is that all you have to say is ‘Oh” she asked.
“No,” I mean. “I guess…….. but why do you have to spank me? I’m just expressing an opinion. I’m not trying to be bad…….” I looked down.
Avery walked over to me from where she was sitting on her knees. She kneeled in front of me. She took my hands and gently started to talk to me. “I can see you’re nervous……. Have you been spanked before?” Avery asked.
“No” I answered.
“Ok,” she answered. “Sometimes it’s easier if you’ve been spanked before. First of all, I don’t want to spank you. I’m spanking you for your own good. Spanking is supposed to hurt, but you are also supposed to learn from it. I’m spanking you to make you a better person. As you know, Mom gave me the authority to spank you if needed, but I’m actually doing it because I want the best for you.”
“A warm bottom is a lot better than a burning soul.” She said.
“It’s just kind of weird. Your Mom put you in charge because you are more mature. But this will be the first time you’ve chosen this.” I said
“I decided on this punishment because you didn’t just swear or something. You disrespected God. The bible supports spanking. Do you understand?” Avery sad.
Here’s a quote: “…..if you strike him with a rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Sheol. “ Proverbs 24 12-14
“I guess, “I said. I looked down.
“Do you agree to accept your punishment then?” she asked.
“What punishment?” I asked.
“Oh yeah, I suppose I should explain that. A spanking with Mr. Spanky. It’s the spanking brush. 30 times. I will administer the spanking.” Avery said.
“What if I don’t submit?” I asked.
“Then Rainy and I will hold you down and spank you double, that’s 60 spanks. So you should just cooperate with the 30.” Avery said.
“I’ll submit then……...” I said softly. I tried to sound reluctant. Inside I was kind of excited. I wondered if it would actually hurt though…..
“Okay” Avery said. “Come with me. I want you to have a little privacy.” She took me down the hall to a bedroom.
“Okay, I’ll sit down and you go over my lap okay?” She sat down on the bed. Then she got up right away. Oh, I need “Mr Spanky” she said.
She got up and told me to stay there.
She came back quickly with a brush. She held it up and said “Mr. Spanky” I stared at the brush. She sat on the bed.
“Okay come here, Jordan.” She said I stared at the brush. I slowly walked over to her. When I got close she grabbed my waste-line and pulled me close.
“Over my lap” She said. I slowly surrendered myself to her warm lap. I was wearing Jeans and a red shirt. I felt comfortable yet vulnerable on her lap. She put one hand over my back to hold me and avoid striking me too high. She tapped the brush for a second. “Okay thirty spanks. Hold still please.” I braced myself and I heard the first spank hit. It echoed off the wall. I felt a sharp sting then warmth. I thought that jeans would make it a lot less painful but the brush penetrated my jeans easily. It still hurt. “One” She said. Whap “Two” She kept going slowly with a 3 second pause between spanks. At first the sting hurt the most but then the heat started to build and the pain became worse from the heat. The spanking wasn’t bad at first but the building heat started becoming uncomfortable. Around 15, I started to squirm a little. Avery reacted by gripping me tighter with her free hand and spanking harder. I resisted the urge to reach back. At 20, my butt was on fire. I started to kick a little, I started saying “Ow.”. Avery did not stop. When she got to 25, I didn’t think I could take another 5. The sting was getting worse and the heat felt like I sat on molten metal. I think I zoned out for a minute. Finally, I heard her say 30. She helped me get back up and hugged me. She said I could stay in the room until I was ready to come out. My face was red (like my butt) but I had managed to stay kind of quiet through the entire spanking.
I tried rubbing the sting and the heat out but it did no good. Only time made a difference. After about 10 minutes the pain started to turn from just pain to a pleasant heat sensation. When I came out of the room, Avery and Rainy were watching TV. Avery immediately turned the TV off and said “Let’s pray.” I got on my knees with Avery and Rainy. My butt was still stingy and hot from the spanking. I prayed with them. Avery prayed about a lot of things and eventually closed with “and may Jordan seek and learn your glory in the coming weeks. Show him why he needs to repent of atheism.” She closed the prayer with “Amen.”
“Jordan” she said, say “Amen, that’s how you close a prayer.” “Amen.” I said. “Good,” Avery said and she smiled at me with approval.
She was especially nice to me the next couple of days. She would occasionally ask if I needed to pray about anything. I wondered how long it would be before I pissed her off again. As it turned out, not too long, but that’s another story.
The rest of the time I was there, Avery got stricter about going to Church. The new rule for both of us was that we had to go to Church and have a prayer meeting once a week. I was careful not to put down religion or upset Avery about religion, but despite her attempts to convert me and make me go to Church, I remained an atheist inside. That never changed…...
